I first heard about the beauty of Croatia through “Somebody feed Phil”. I am forever grateful for that show because I think Croatia is truly underrated. You have the Venetian and Mediterraenan culture intertwined that makes everything look beautiful and taste divine. I really loved Croatia and I hope I can go back one day.

When: We visited towards the end of May through first week of June, 2024. It was an 8-day trip.

The weather was really nice. It was warm enough to swim but not scalding hot that we couldn’t walk around.

Where: Split, Hvar, Korcula, and Dubrovnik (2 days each)

Split: May 31-June 2

Day 1 (May 31): Arrived at the Split Airport and took an Uber to the hotel in Old Town.

Checked into the airbnb/hotel [link here]. It was smack in the middle of the Old Town.

We were pretty hungry and we noticed a food truck-like event happening near our street so we walked over and ordered fried calamari mixed with other types of seafood along with draft beer.

We walked around Old Town which was pretty fun in the evening. I love eye shopping along the narrow streets filled w/ local vendors.

As we walked back to the hotel, there was a line that was blocking our hotel entry way. The line was for a restaurant that served what looked like Italian cuisine. All that walking made us hungry again so we lined up to eat once again.

After 45 mins or so, we got a small table and ordered pasta, Dalmation proscuitto, and white wine. OMG THIS PLACE WAS AMAZING.

The Dalmation prociutto is a bit thick in my opinion but it tasted great. the saltiness paired well with the wine. The pasta however. Omg the pasta.

Day 2 (June 1): Walking tour of Split Old Town

I woke up early and walked over to Kruscic Bakery as advertised in Somebody Feed Phil. Once Elbert woke up, we walked over to a coffee shop to get espresso before our scheduled walking tour of Split.

Our 9am walking tour started at the Golden Gate (5ish mins from our hotel) and brought us through different squares, the Diocletian Palace, Riva, the Vestibule, and Podrumi (cellars of Diocletian Palace and a GOT site). It’s always nice to do walking tours and learn the history of a city as well was random facts.
